"YOU TAKE ME UNDER AND YOU PULL ME DOWN AGAIN,, --------------------------------------------------------- It was a rather lukewarm Uly day. Though not the coldest to have blown through that month, the clouds promised nothing better than "dreary" and appeared half-tempted to douse anything (and everything) with rain, if only to prove that they could. Rain or not, there wasn't much else to ruin the day through Skip's eyes. Now why he was out walking about in such promising type of weather was as good as anyone's guess. Chev had tried to stop him earlier, told him he was an idiot, and that he was bound to get some horrible summer cold if he went... but he'd gone anyway. You could suppose maybe the boy thought a little bit of walking would clear his head, keep the bad thoughts out, maybe help censor them. Because he was thinking plenty of bad things recently, and then there were the times that he didn't think much at all. It scared him... but he was used to being scared this time of year.
He sighed softly as he walked, looking mainly at the path he was walking along. It was nasty, covered in leaves and sticks and goodness knew how many hidden ticks. That wasn't what bothered him, though. It was the mud and puddles. Apparently those clouds had found someone they didn't like earlier and had decided to spit on them. He just hoped he wouldn't be the next to be rained on. It was the last thing he needed; he already had his amazing pink shoes covered in mud and grass stains. And his jeans. He probably had mud all the way up past his knees from the way he'd walked through a few unsuspected puddles. He couldn't imagine what it would be like to explain to all the questioning students back at the school as to why he had muddy knees. They'd ask and laugh and call him bad names. His thoughts wandered hitherandto but that was the one of the glories of being by himself: he could think.
The path came to an abrupt end, and Skip found himself on a dock of sorts. Funny. He'd never known there was a lake in this town. He didn't mind the change of scenery and the promise of less mud, though. He continued onward, the clunk of his shoes hitting the wooden dock planks cracking the awkward silence of the water.
He purred softly, not in approval, but just to make some noise, maybe entertain himself. It was pitiful and dead-sounding, not a hint of the usual "Skip oomph" behind it. It didn't work. He was okay with that too. 'Cause everyone gets depressed sometimes and has bad days. It was normal. He'd never been particularly fascinated with being normal, but it was normal and, for some reason, today, that was especially satisfying. For a moment, Skip thought it would be best to go back to school and tell his counselor all about everything on his mind. That was what normal people did. Then again, normal people didn't have a counselor therapist.
Skip sighed again and hugged himself tightly, eying the calm, undoubtedly cool, otherwise welcoming water of the lake with an extreme lack of interest. His now-wooden path of dock ran out and he stooped down. He crouched there for a while, trying to decide if it would be better to touch the water with his fingers or not. In the end, the boy decided against it -- it would ruin his gloves and make his hands nasty-wet -- and went to sit on the edge of the dock, legs hanging down off the side. His eyes roamed the clouds and his mind rambled about in its empty confusion. But that was okay because it was "normal."

SO WHAT? I AM A ROCK STAR ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Eagle slowly prowled along the outer edge of the lake. The dank, musty odor of the trees behind her reached her sensitive nose, and she drank in the scent. She closed her eyes for a moment to review her surroundings. The most she could smell right now was the water and the heavy smell of impending rain. She could also smell wet sand and dirt. Underneath it all, she could smell something warm. A warm, human body. Growling, she opened her eyes, and could see from where she was standing now, a teenage boy, looking to be around her age. Eagle let out a soft warning snarl as she approached, keeping her head and shoulders low. Her red eyes were narrowed, and her lips were curled back. Her nose was scrunched up in a snarl-like way. She slowly approached Skip, keeping every part of her body weary and ready for battle in case it was needed. The boy didn't look like much of a threat, though. If needed, she could easily drive him off... ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------I GOT MY ROCK MOVES, AND I DON'T NEED YOU

"YOU TAKE ME UNDER AND YOU PULL ME DOWN AGAIN,, --------------------------------------------------------- Sitting there, Skip kept his eyes locked to the sky, watching a shoe-shaped cloud with particular, half-witted interest. His eyes followed the cloud, his mind followed his memories, the past. The boy would have much rather thought only of the water-droplets above than ponder, but his mind allowed him no break, no free time for his endless process of thought. For once, in one sick moment as he watched the white ball of fluff slowly skitter its way across the sky, he wished he had his nasty pills... a lot of them. Anything to numb the thoughts going helterskelter in his brain. He was considering leaving the newfound dock when...
Well, that was when he heard something.
Immediately, the boy got to his feet, his nerves on edge at the unmistakable sound of footsteps. He found his heart racing, his heart itself further beating itself up inside his ribcage. It's just another person, just another person, no reason to reak out, he thought to himself. Sadly, the idea of 'just another person' did nothing to console him, and as he looked down to his clothed palms, Skip saw they were already starting to shake. He willed himself to calm down, swallowing back a ball of fear in his throat. He turned around slowly to meet this 'just another person' and--
He gasped, the only other sensible reaction his mind would register, as he saw the girl coming down the dock to meet him. She reminded him of a cat, or a wolf.. or some other animal, all that came to mind being something that could eat him. The boy's eyes widened beneath his mask of hair. "Uh... duh.... H-Hi?" The words nearly caught in his throat, and they sounded rather pitiful. He hugged himself to try and calm himself down as the predatory girl neared him. A foot stepped back to find nothing but the edge of the dock. So he was trapped. He mentally whined and put on a squirmy, welcoming face to the girl, knowing it was either her or the water... and maybe she wasn't that bad? Just a... bad day? Looking into the girl's eyes, Skip doubted that for some reason, but he could always hope. He'd always been a rather optimistic little boy.

SO WHAT? I AM A ROCK STAR ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Uh... duh.... H-Hi? Eagle could hear the fear in the boy's voice as she continued her approach. Her eyes blazed as she got closer, pacing back and forth in front of him. Fear was something she almost fed off of when she met others. She kept up her snarling and it got louder as she paced back and forth. She wiped her tongue over her lips as her stomach loudly growled protest in her stomach. She would definitely have to hunt soon. I could certainly eat him... Eagle thought to herself. But he looks stringy and unappetizing. He also doesn't look like he'd be much fun to hunt. Eagle could sense that Skip probably didn't want to put up a fight right now. Due to this, she dropped the snarling and it instead turned into now curious meows and purrs. She kept her head very close to him as she now circled around the front of his body. She let his own individual scent drift to her nose, seeing now that she had smelled him somewhere before.
As soon as she was satisfied, she stepped back from him and looked right into his eyes. She sat down on the dock and began to clean out her nails, all signs of aggression now gone. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------I GOT MY ROCK MOVES, AND I DON'T NEED YOU

"YOU TAKE ME UNDER AND YOU PULL ME DOWN AGAIN,, --------------------------------------------------------- His teeth dug into his lower lip as the girl continued her approach. Her growls assailed his ears and whipped his mind into a repeating state of fear. He'd certainly found the best antidepressant to date: being scared. For some odd reason, however, the boy would have rather had his pills.
He leaned back away from the girl as she perked up close to him, trying not to make his anxiety better known... Since you whimper and shake like that though, stupid, there's no way she could know that-- she growled again! He sucked in a fresh squeal, keeping as quiet as possible. This only made every sound the girl made that much louder, but it was better to frighten himself than empower her... or so he thought. He was seriously considering taking a swim (despite the lingering thought in his mind that this stranger could probably swim a lot better than him) when she surprised him. Again.
She sat down and started to... clean herself.
Skip blinked, standing stock-still and, honestly, confused as hell. One minute, the girl had been ready to eat his face off, the next... she was cleaning her nails? And meowing. Skip was never one for curses, but this was definitely a what the fuck moment. "Uh... So you're... uh..." Words failed him, even as he tried to fill the cat-filled silence with his own voice. It was weird, it was kind of nostalgic, and his head was spinning from both remaining fear and confusion. He wrung his hands, messing with his own painted nails in turn and watched the girl. "Are you a... cat?" Stupid, stupid, stupid, should've kept your mouth shut. But he had to ask. This girl was giving him serious feline vibes and... she kind of reminded him of Emmy, a long lost friend. He put on his most insecure smile, on accident of course, and focused on his breathing, as the girl seemed rather passive at the moment.

SO WHAT? I AM A ROCK STAR ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Are you a... cat? What kind of a question is that? Eagle thought, but she answered him with a soft meow and she let a low purr rumble in her throat. She gave Skip the "mindless cat" look and drew a notebook from a pocket in her sweater.
She began to write in the notebook and then passed it to him. The note said "What do you think, retard. No, I'm not a cat." She laid down and watched Skip curiously for his response. She could tell by his stance and the way he was speaking now that he was probably even more cautious now. Despite her now friendly behavior, she kept her guard up. She knew that he could turn on her in a second if he wished. That was the way humans were anyway. Fickle beings. Cats are better. That's why she associated herself with them and not with people. Human's bad habits tend to rub off very quickly. No wonder humans are so destructive. It's like a genetic trait...one she hadn't inherited, or one she might have had her parents not abandoned her at the age they did.
She rolled over onto her back, displaying her stomach and keeping her eyes locked onto Skip's. She batted mindlessly at the air as she waited for a response. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------I GOT MY ROCK MOVES, AND I DON'T NEED YOU

"YOU TAKE ME UNDER AND YOU PULL ME DOWN AGAIN,, --------------------------------------------------------- What do you think, retard. No, I'm not a cat. The words, written or otherwise, hit him hard, his teeth pulling at his bottom lip unforgivingly as he mulled her scrawl over. Handing her the notebook back, he tried a small, apologetic smile as he said feebly, "I-I meant... I meant you... y-you act like a-a cat." He nodded a little, backing up his statement with the action, assuring himself he was not mentally challenged as this stranger assumed. Slower than most, yes, and very stupid most of the time. But he wasn't... he wasn't a "retard."
He hugged himself with an arm, squeezing his own side for reassurance as he stood uneasily at the dock's edge. The boy didn't dare look away from the girl; she seemed more moody than Chev, and that was saying something. It was probably the cat part of her. Yeah, Skip was sure of that. This girl, whatever her name was (he wasn't going to ask), she seemed a lot like a cat.. just the way she acted, the way she creeped around earlier, head low, purring, growling, licking her hand like that... It was weird but very.. feline? He guessed that was the word. Skip decided she was crazy, and the sooner he could get away from her, the better. He liked cats and all but this girl seemed like she wanted to eat him or something.
He swallowed back another nervous lump, fingernails playing with the raw skin of his upper arm as he watched her with equally stubborn intent. If she jumped, he'd take a swim. He'd never been a good swimmer, but it was better than becoming chow-- don't think about that. So he didn't. "Can you... c-can you talk?" Stupid question. Obviously the girl could talk.... she could write, and she was making all these kitty noises. There wasn't something wrong with her throat. Maybe she was a selective mute or something. He mentally shrugged, for once not exactly caring if she could or not. He was just prolonging the noms... or hopefully boring her. Maybe then she'd leave.

SO WHAT? I AM A ROCK STAR ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Can you... c-can you talk? Eagle tilted her head at him. She took the notebook and began to write in it. She soon passed it back to him. The note now read; "Yes I can. But I don't want to. Why would I bless a human of all creatures with my beautiful voice?" She chuckled softly at her response and took a sharpie and began to draw random things on her arm. She looked back up at Skip and laughed - a laugh for her was a bit uncommon but not as rare as speaking. If Skip was lucky she might sing for him. However, she didn't think this would be anyone's lucky day. Very few people have heard her sing, and she's very happy about that and upholds that fact with a lot of pride. She now changed from her first aggressive, then friendly, to a now passive sort of personality. She lied out along the dock, spreading her entire tall frame over the dock. She began to clean the part of her arms that wasn't covered by her sweater. The dirt began to roll from her hands and into her throat. It didn't bother her however. Eagle locked her eyes onto Skip and began to slowly purr again, putting her head down on her outstretched arms. She closed her eyes as she waited for Skip to reply. Night is young and the music's high Luisa slipped off her sandals as she left the gravelly path and stepped onto the soft, muddy ground. She loved the feeling of wet dirt between her toes, something she wasn't used to in the concrete jungle that was her home. Glad I decided against the velvet mini. It's way to hot for that, she thought, heading for the nearby dock. Two teens were already there, classmates she had assumed. Her hands automatically started to smooth out her lilac jumper dress and straighten the collar of her sky blue button up. First impressions were everything, as her father said. She thought about putting her shoes back on, but the damage was already done. Her feet were dirty, reminding her of what she thought Hobbit feet would look like since they were no shoes. Luisa pushed her thick brown hair behind her ears before she stepped onto the dock. The two she saw were a skinny boy wearing colorful clothes (she especially liked the armwarmers) and a wild looking girl. The boy was looking rather confused while the girl looked quite relaxed stretched out on the sun-warmed wood of the dock. "Hello," she said pleasantly, standing at a distance from the two she was speaking to. If they didn't interest her she wouldn't have to walk as far to get away from them. "Do you two go to the boarding school?" She wasn't sure if there was a seperate school for the local children or not. With a bit of rock music, everything is fine.

"YOU TAKE ME UNDER AND YOU PULL ME DOWN AGAIN,, --------------------------------------------------------- Yes, I can. But I don't want to. Why would I bless a human of all creatures with my beautiful voice? Skip took a moment to blink at the notebook before kneeling down to rest it near the stranger-girl. He kept his face straight -- as far as "straight" went when he was still paranoid anyway -- and kept back the thoughts zooming through his head. A pretty voice? That seems kinda...cocky. He hold back from giggling then, simply because of the terminology. Giggling over pervy thoughts would only draw the girl's attention, and she seemed rather comfy on the dock where she was. Now if she stayed there, that wouldn't be a problem... other than her further cutting off his escape. He drew in a quiet deep breath, shifting a little in his stance, ignoring the soft, whining pain in his knees. He would've sat back down, as he figured he'd be waiting here a while, but then the girl could've... pounced on him or something.
The boy's eyes snapped up as another voice, another girl's voice invaded the drear. He waved faintly at her greeting with his free hand, the wave half-assed. But he was honestly trying to seem friendly; maybe the new girl would help him out, help him get away from... Cat Girl. Yeah, that's what he'd call her. Cat Girl. His lips fumbled with a fragile smile as he returned to hugging himself. How the new girl didn't notice how uncomfortable he was, he had no idea, but it probably had something to do with his hair in his face. With a small huff, he blew his hair back from his eyes. It worked, if only for a moment or two, before the black locks fells back into place. Good try though. He sighed softly, uneasily and gave himself a reassuring squeeze. It'd work out. Just talk.
That he did. "O-Oh, y-yeah... I... I go to the school here." He nodded faintly, eyes trailing to Cat Girl as he spoke, as if afraid his words would stir her peace. It didn't really matter now, though; he at least wasn't alone with her anymore. Then again, his counselor kept telling him he couldn't trust strangers, and... well, both of these girls were strangers. He could hope the newer girl wasn't as, uh, carnivorous as the first, though. His counselor couldn't bash him for that.

SO WHAT? I AM A ROCK STAR ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Eagle let out a soft purr and rubbed "affectionately" on Skip's shoulder, ribs, and sides. What she was really doing was scent-marking him to tell this other female that she had claimed Skip as her own, a pet in some sort of way.
Eagle now approached the challenger, her lips curled back and she began to snarl in the way when she had first encountered Skip. The hair on the back of her neck began to rise as she circled around the female like a hungry Smilodon closing in for the kill. She showed her canines and hissed at the female.
After her impressive display of aggression, she laid down and kept herself between Skip and the female. Eagle kept her narrowed blood-red eyes on the female and kept growling to ward her off. Eagle wasn't afraid to bite if she came to close. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------I GOT MY ROCK MOVES, AND I DON'T NEED YOU

Night is young and the music's high Luisa took a few steps foward, prepared to extend her hand as she introduced herself. She stopped when she registered the look on the boy's face. Uncomfortable, not one to be touched.Maybe one up for some power? the girl noted to herself. It was unlike her to not notice something like that earlier, but perhaps it was the slight purring of the other girl that had distracted her. The next words would've been "My name is Luisa Falaguerra", but then the wild looking girl started doing some wierd cat like thing. Her left eyebrow slightly rose as she watched the somewhat embarrassing display. What is this girl doing? Luisa thought with a chuckle. Then the 'cat' started with the hissing and growling while she actually circled Luisa. It took everything she had not to laugh at the girl's strange behavior, but a slight smirk did manage to win a place on her face. Was...was she trying to scare me? Again she had to stifle laughter. After all she had seen, it would take more than that to scare her. "Hmm...well my name is Luisa Falaguerra. I'm new to the school. What's your name?" She had decided to speak to the boy, and not the girl who had decided to place herself directly inbetween them. Besides she looks like she'll bite me,, Luisa thought, but with hardly any worry. If that creature did make a move towards her, she'd just go for her knife, which was conveniently hidden in the dress's pocket. Just try me. With a bit of rock music, everything is fine.

SO WHAT? I AM A ROCK STAR ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Satisfied now with her attempts, she purred and turned to face Skip, sitting beside him, cat-like. She put her head under Skip's chin and purred gently, then laid down and began to sniff his hands. She meowed curiously and put her head under the palms of his hands.
Eagle blinked and let her blood red eyes wander to Luisa's. She kept her bone-chilling sight on her and let out a warning hiss, telling her not to come any closer. If Luisa did try to come any closer, she would be ready.
Eagle kept herself beside Skip just in case Luisa tried to attack. She knew how unstable humans were, and Skip was a very good target. He never tried to fight back when she approached him aggressively, and he didn't seem to have any defense weapons. He was a very vulnerable little boy. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------I GOT MY ROCK MOVES, AND I DON'T NEED YOU
